Grand Casino Arena has been named a 2025 Green Operations & Advanced Leadership (GOAL) Sustainability Contender and won 26 medals at the 2nd Annual GOAL Awards.

Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center, managed by Oak View Group, has joined GOAL (Green Operations & Advanced Leadership), a sustainability-driven membership network for sports, entertainment and live event venues.

Liverpool FC has been awarded 36 GOAL (Green Operations and Advanced Leadership) medals at the 2025 GOAL Medal Awards, a 200 per cent increase on the 12 medals it achieved last year, underlining progress across every area of sustainability, from environmental impact to community engagement.

Ocean Conservancy and its partner GOAL announced the addition of Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the “Protect Where We Play Tour,” a partnership to reduce the plastic footprint of GOAL Member venues by deploying a reusable cup program during concerts and sporting events. Coinciding with Plastic Free July, Gainbridge Fieldhouse will implement the reusable cup program as part of AT&T WNBA All-Star Weekend, marking the first time a WNBA All-Star Game has featured fully-reusable cups in lieu of single-use plastic ones.

On Earth Day, the Boston Red Sox highlighted a new study showing that Fenway Park ranks as the most environmentally efficient ballpark in Major League Baseball when it comes to embodied carbon - the emissions associated with construction materials and building practices. The analysis, conducted by GOAL (Green Operations and Advanced Leadership) and structural engineering firm Holmes US, shows that restoring and maintaining Fenway Park, rather than replacing it, has led to significantly lower environmental impact.

Pollstar has announced the recipients of the inaugural Billie Eilish Award for Sustainability: Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle and Mike Sciortino, the GM of UBS Arena, which is located within Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The award – which is named for the superstar artist and her leadership in championing sustainability practices in the live industry – will be presented during the 36th annual Pollstar Awards on Wednesday.

As a group, there were three zero waste shows; eight venues had a reduction in single-use plastics; and four arenas offered free or discounted alternative transportation for attendees. Collectively, there was a 52.4 percent average waste diversion rate per show, which equals 117,000 pounds of waste that was reused, recycled or composted.

At Go Green Knight, the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation donated a tree for every save made by a Golden Knights goaltender to ImpactNV’s statewide 10-Year, 100,000 Tree Plan. Team partners ReRoute Americas and The Venetian Resort Las Vegas both matched that donation. Fans could take part as well, with the VGK Foundation donating a tree for every fan who texted “GREEN” to 94547 that night.
